Tuesday - nothing. Wouldn't bother reading if I were you!

Turned left at the lights next to the Shell Garage in Chorleywood instead of going straight on and enjoyed a lovely drive, albeit in pitch blackness, round the back of the common and back onto the main road avoiding lots of queues!

Wednesday
Saw a house on tinternet that looked quite interesting and almost, almost within our price range, so went to have a look at the exterior. In the pitch black. Not knowing which number it was. Interesting road though. We shall see.

Thursday
Had a meeting in Tottenham Court Road in a building I’d never been to before.

Monday - avoiding being run over by the mad motorists of Herts and Bucks

The Rose and Crown in Chorleywood, before going to Budgens and nearly being hit by three separate 4x4 drivers who either thought I was a pheasant or a peasant.

Herr Cut

Friday
Left work early with the intention of getting my ear pierced but on arrival thought I could actually do with the £25+ it would cost for food and heat and other luxuries. Also visited some shops and hairdressers in Amersham – none of which inspired me to get my hair cut.
Saturday
Osterley Park.

Sunday
Very quiet day - new thing was Loudwater for a boot sale.

Thursday - must learn to ask for help!

Took me AGES to walk home in the pitch black using my phone as a “torch” for fear of falling in the canal - which I nearly did about ten times! which all in all scuppered my something new plans which meant I had to buy the very last product in Waitrose which I’d never bought before – crab pate (and not crap bate as I just put!)

Wednesday

New thing was the studio at Chesham Leisure Centre for Yoga/pilates - where I woke myself up snoring....

Tuesday

Had to scupped my new thing plans as my boss needed a lift home after a biking accident with a big piece of flint rendered him unable to drive. So my new thing was going to Waitrose in Beaconsfield to see how posh people shop!

Monday - Plaster of Amersham, not Paris

Amersham swimming pool after about an hour trying to find the entrance. Only encountered one plaster in the pool.

Lots of drinking follows....

Thursday
After having avoided being run over by an inch by a golf driver who didn’t see me when I bent down behind my car to pick something up off the pavement, I bought a sandwich from the Green Cafe in Denham.

Friday
King’s Arms in Chesham.

Saturday
The Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe, also the Alliance and Leicester there before Yo Sushi. Also the Albert and Pearl pub on Upper Street, Islington for a friend’s surprise 30th!

Sunday
New thing was Turville – the beautiful village which also doubles as Dibley! Went for a walk, got hopelessly lost and ended up in Fingest before we found Turville and went for a drink in the very posh Bull and Butcher Pub.

Wednesday - more monkey magic!

Some new shops in Dorchester, Sherborne and Yeovil – which now makes me sound like I do a lot of shopping – which I don’t! Most significant new thing was going to the Orange Box in Yeovil for the first time – a live music venue hidden up an alleyway near Superdrug. Caught the very end of FooFoo’s set (another new thing!) before seeing two bands I’ve seen before – Bag of Rats and the magnificent 3 Daft Monkeys. I saw 3DM less than a week ago, but never ever get bored of their footstomping tunes, their fantastic energy and their brilliant musical talents. Took my pa to see them too and he seemed to like them, calling them “tuneful!”. Quoting another member of my family, my sister would say in response to my delight at being recognised by one daft monkey Tim – “stalking is illegal!”

Yawnfest

Monday
Boring. Bourne Mill Industrial Estate.
Tuesday
Staples in Acton! Got a funny thing that looked like a parking ticket this morning outside my house, which came from the fire brigade telling me I was parking inconsiderately which didn’t serve any purpose but to irritate me and make me consider writing to them to ask where exactly I should park and whose house I was blocking apart from my own? Anyway, the upshot was that I thought I should go into Staples so I didn’t get a parking ticket for parking outside the shop.

Daft monkeys and Tin Ladies

Friday
Pint apiece at the Blue Posts and Marquis of Granby pubs in Soho before our first visit to the renowned 100Club to see 3 Daft Monkeys supported by an amazing all-girl band called Tiny Tin Lady. A brilliant night in the company of proper musicians!

Saturday
Saw Quantum of Solace - well the bottom of it anyway since we were late and ended up right at the front in the neckache seats or whatever they’re called.

Sunday
Went for a five mile walk from Old Amerhsma up the hill through the woods, then to Coleshill where we stopped off for a pint at the Red Lion.

Thursday

Intended to go for a quick pray at lunchtime, and thought God wouldn’t mind if I combined it with a visit to Denham so that I could visit St Mary’s Church there. I nearly got hit on the way by some berk driving on the wrong side of the road, and the reason this tickled me after I’d calmed down was because the guy’s number plate was B2 ERK!

Jam and Jerusalem

Tuesday
Some random preserves and mushrooms from Waitrose

Wednesday
While very historic things were happening in the world with the election of Barack Obama, equally iconic things were happening here. My accidental new thing was turning down Glebe Road instead of into the leisure centre. After my swim (which was not easy as there were about 17,000,000 people in one half of the pool, the other new thing was taking a back road from Chalfont to Chesham with no thought of how direct it was!

Trying not get run over in Chenies

Monday
Looking for a pub in Chorleywood. Did actually see one but couldn’t find a parking space and then couldn’t turn around so had a nice drive through the town before deciding it might be easier to go to the Red Lion in Chenies which was next to the Bedford Arms that we went to last week. Had a quick half pint of Guinness while I put the world to rights!

Levellers and A LOT of cider!

Friday
Stretching my new things a bit because my new thing was going to the toilets in O'Neill's in Euston and also to the toilets at the British Library, but still a memorable day and that is the point of this exercise! We'd had a pretty awful week so had booked to see Mark and Simon from the Levellers perform at the British Library as part of the Taking LIberties Exhibition as the one thing to look forward to. We happened to be getting in some pre-gig drinks in at O'Neills across the road and saw them both in there and had a very nice chat with both of them, although the three pints of cider I drank meant that I was somewhat gushing in my assessment of them much to their embarrassment! Anyway, saw Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip who were both excellent and very witty before Mark and SImon performed a short set including Levs favourites that I'd never heard live before including Cardboard Box City, Is this Art alongside other favourites like What a Beautiful Day and Carry Me.

Saturday
New things were the M&S on the A40 and the foyer of Chesham town hall – a much better day than is indicated here!

Sunday
Little Missenden for a very short walk as one of the footpaths was blocked for a shoot of both the pigeon and the film kind. Also drove through Holmer Green.
