New thing today was the upstairs room at the Royal British Legion in town where our talk on giving birth was set in the unusual surroundings of army memorabilia including a giant pith helmet.

New thing today was going BACK to Swindon for a party at another hotel, the Marsh Farm Hotel.

Friday

It's not often that you hear someone say this, but MrM and I headed to SWINDON for a romantic meal!

AS Honda is based in that direction, there is a lovely Japanese restaurant at the Stanton House Hotel in Stanton Fitzwarren. In fact, there are actually two restaurants, so we selected the more authentic style one called Mount Fuji.



It's been a while since I went to a proper Japanese restaurant where you remove your shoes and sit on the floor (I think the last one was actually in Tokyo), so this was lovely and peaceful. It's so nice to listen to gentle Japanese music - I've noticed that the last few restaurants I've been to, there seems to be someone following me who laughs loudly and talks at volume. Anyway, MrM and I enjoyed a lovely bento box each and I watched him eat sushi and drink beer - things I can't do at present. A lovely meal - (Apart from the undercooked chicken and the blond hair I found in my vegetable tempura!)

Thursday

I need to make this post in the smallest font available! I always claim that I am a non consumption advocate but curiosity did get the better of me today and I went to check out the new shopping centre in our town.

It's been in the pipeline for YEARS and has unfortunately opened during a bit of a downturn. However, though incomplete, it's opened in time for CHristmas (with some gaps), and does look fantastic. We went a bit later in the day, but understand that there was a parade and thousands of shoppers at the opening. We checked out Debenhams, Paperchase, Lakeland and H&M but didn't buy anything.

New thing today was a different route home through High Wycombe, and also stopping off in Thatcham to pick something up from a lovely freecycler in a street I didn't know existed!

Tuesday

New thing today was a charity shop in Sheldon, Birmingham and Morrisons nearby. Bought two things from two different members of staff and seriously cannot see what Richard Hammond is getting so excited about!

Sunday

New thing today was a Chinese takeaway in town - the first for a while but necessary because I fell asleep, waking up too late to get anything for dinner. Whoops.

New thing today was "La Dolve Vita" which I thought I'd watch as it's considered a classic. Do I need to watch it again as I didn't really get it?

Friday

Had a meeting over in Hereford this morning, so came back via Worcester which is near where I grew up. Lots of new things including a nice coffee shop for lunch and a couple of shops - one where I broke my promise not to buy any new clothes this year....

Thursday

New thing today was watching the amazing (no, I don't know how I've never seen it before) To Kill a Mocking Bird. Amazing.
